Margo & Warwick have 2 asparagus beds in the Horowhenua. They follow a
low cultivation management plan. The beds are mown then the fern gently
composts back into the soil.
Chemical input is minimised by the use of young lambs in the beds during non harvest time.
Te Whanga Asparagus Bed
Located on the corner of Te Whanga Rd and State Highway 1, this is the oldest bed, planted in 1995. Varieties planted here are Jersey Giant, Taramea & JWC1..
Roe Asparagus Bed
This bed is located in Roe St, off Tararua Rd. Planted in 2001 it is planted completely in the Jersey Giant variety.
In their spare time,Warwick & Margo enjoy an outdoor life with bushwalking and cycling among their favorite activities. They also enjoy travel and time with friends and family.
Both are directors of Tendertips, and Margo takes a hands on role in the packhouse as Joint Managing Director.
